Once upon a time...

Jake has told Elayna (and me) bedtime stories since she was in utero. Our favorite has always been the Princess Elayna Grace stories. Jake is a great story-teller, and now that Elayna is old enough to really listen and want to hear whole stories - even without her beloved books ;) - he has been telling more of them again. They always start and end the same ways, and Elayna picked up on it in no time.

Well... this particular day we caught some gorgeous weather and went to the park in the evening with Elayna's new friend "Flo" (she got Flo as a prize for going potty in a public restroom for the first time earlier that day at the zoo!), and Elayna decided to tell Jake and I a Princess Elayna Grace story. Made my already bright day five thousand times brighter to hear her and see how much fun she was having with it!

I got some sweet pictures of the moment, and for once E seemed to actually want me to take her picture! She kept sitting Flo down next to her and sitting very sweetly, and she cracked us up using Flo as the flying dragon character in her story!

What an amazing day.

In case you are wondering, here is what an Elayna Grace story would be like with E telling it.... ;)

"Once upon a time... Was beautiful princess whole wide world. Lived in castle with chocolate. Lived with queen mommy and king daddy. One day played with dragon Larry, and dragon flew alllllll over around in skies (Flo shows us the flying). Was SO fun! Then all those peoples went home and took nap. Then had lunch. Then went to sleep. Theeee End."

Could anything be better than having the princess herself telling you the story? I think not!!

More from our fun day of Easter egg hunting!

Elayna, Jake and I had SO much fun at the zoo with Kaemon Ze, Gigi and Jason... we will absolutely have to do it again soon. They are a joy to be around! Here are a bunch of shots from our day of fun.

Happy Easter!!! :)

So, I know this is a little like cheating, and I have been SO bad about updating the blog lately, but I figured you would rather have something than nothing, right? ;)

Here is Elayna, just after her first Easter egg hunt, showing me her loot. She did so well! We went with our friends Gigi and Jason, and their son Kaemon Ze, who E adores. It was a wonderful day. I will blog again soon with some more of the cute pictures of our outing, and the others I haven't been able to share yet from the past few weeks.

Hope you all have an amazing Easter!
Xoxo, from our family to yours! :)

Playdate with friends

Elayna and I had so much fun at our friends Gigi and Jason and Kaemon Ze's house one rainy day. The kids love playing together and were very cute to watch. E and KZ have sort of grown up together, since we started going to waffle breakfasts over there almost two years ago (what?! two years! wow!).

E and her super fun cousin, Jaden!

Elayna adores her big cousin Jaden (who is 4). She talks about him all the time and gets so excited when she knows she's going to see him. It's adorable and they make me melt when they play together so sweetly. There is no fighting or being mean to each other.... they only play lovingly and snuggle and share. It's seriously amazing. How often do you hear about kids this age being nothing but good together? I think it helps that Jaden is truly a loving boy, who also loves his little cousin right back. Such sweetness. :)

We love you, (Great) Aunt Kathy!!!

We wish we could have been there in person for the benefit, but we were sending you our love from Portland! Love you!!

My very, very favorite things.

These two make me smile and laugh and love so much that it hurts. In the best way imaginable. How did I get so lucky?!

My curly girl!

Elayna definitely got my super curly hair, and we seem to get comments and compliments on it a lot - even more lately as she's getting older and its growing longer. Her hair is getting super long ... its little girl hair and not baby hair anymore! Oh, and you should see it when she takes a bath. It's actually longer than this.
